Employment history |
Fulton Hogan Ltd Christchurch |
November 2014 - present |
|
Senior systems engineer. |
Brought on to assist the existing team, I was commissioned to implement a task sequence to build a SOE Server build for the deployment to sites here in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. This task was further developed to include a Server 2008 R2 install for legacy sites. With this task I included safeguards to ensure the build would fail gracefully should anything go amiss, enforced company naming conventions, and location specific settings (various international time zones and region settings). This process allows a build user to provision, configure and build the server from the HP iLo username, password and IP through a PowerShell GUI and then receive an email once the task was completed. Other tasks that I have been involved in additional packaging of specialist applications, evaluation of software, hardware and help in other areas of companywide IT tasks and issues. |
Dimension Data Ltd Wellington |
February 2014 - September 2014 |
|
Application packager. |
As part of the 3DHB work programme, a collaborative approach between Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHBs (the 3 DHBs) was adopted. |
The team in which I belonged were tasked with migrating applications from old environments to Windows 7, Citrix XenApp or manual installs onto Windows 7 and were required to assess the installation, capture settings and choose the deployment type. |
The different types of applications involved would require different types of methods; e.g. capturing legacy applications and converting them to the MSI format and then sequencing them into App-V 5 package. These were then further progressed into UAT and Live environments, and where necessary, we were assisting the configuration team with trouble shooting of the application when issues were found. |
As part of the packaging process we also provided a QA requirement to other team packages to ensure documentation and the installation process were correct. |
Towards the end of my term, I was asked to assist the Configuration team with SCCM 2012. |
Some of the methods and tools I used included the following: |
App-V for Citrix or Windows 7.
